New GPC Inc., in fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, has once again contributed to ongoing efforts by the Guyana Fire Service to sensitize the public on fire prevention measures.
The local pharmaceutical company handed over some 2500 pieces of material on fire safety and prevention practices. The donation was held at the Guyana Fire Service’s Headquarters, downtown Georgetown.
New GPC Inc.'s Marketing Manager and International Sales Associate, Elizabeth Ram, explained this is the company’s fifth year in supplying materials needed by the Fire Service to boost its prevention and safety drive.

“It is very important that people are aware of what needs to be done, the precautions that need to be taken and the measures that need to be put in place because a fire is not just a one-off thing, it takes your whole future away from you. So we will support getting the information that needs to be out there as much as possible,” Ram posited.
Following the brief presentation ceremony, Fire Prevention Officer within the Guyana Fire Service, Nigel Gravesande, disclosed that these materials will particularly be helpful with sensitization efforts in the hinterland regions.
“It would be a great boost for us given the fact that these flyers can go into the hinterland areas, where those folks there do not see fire officers on a regular basis,” he explained.
Gravesande went on to express appreciation to NEW GPC for its support over the past years, while calling on other companies to follow suit and fulfill their corporate responsibility.
“They have been a very good friend to us in relation to donating these flyers and so forth, they’re always on board when it comes to fire prevention. We always encourage the corporate society to lend a helping hand so that a safer nation with donations such as this,” the Fire Prevention Officer noted.
