Furosemide is a potent diuretic that is used to eliminate water and salt from the body.
Adults: 40mg in the morning; 20-40mg daily, increased in resistant oedema to 80mg or more daily.
Children: 0.5 – 2mg/kg daily, maximum 40mg daily.
Frusemide is used to treat the excessive accumulation of fluid and/or swelling (oedema) of the body caused by heart failure, cirrhosis, chronic kidney failure, and nephrotic syndrome. It is sometimes used alone or in conjunction with medication to treat hypertension.
